Chobe Game Lodge Chobe River, Chobe National Park , Botswana

Chobe Game Lodge is right on the river, around a 20 minute drive west of Kasane. This is a prime area of The Chobe National Park and Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent lodge on the stunning Chobe riverfront. It is here, on the river's fertile floodplains, that Chobe's herds of buffalo and elephants come to drink, bathe and play. The river is also an important corridor for many other species of wildlife from predators like lion and leopard to the many different antelope found here.

The lodge is well established and has a good reputation. A comprehensive renovation has undeniably benefited the property which has been going strong for years now - Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton married here back in the 1970s.

Chobe Game Lodge is an historic property. Guests come here to be right on the river and have access to exceptional Chobe wildlife. Unlike many other safari lodges in Chobe, there is not so much focus on the 4x4 game drives here, although they are of course part of the safari day, but more on the opportunity to cruise the river in the special safari boats - a fantastic way to see the game which is truly sensational during the dry season.

While the rooms in the past may have looked a little dated, that is no longer the case while attitudes are anything but - Chobe Game Lodge is very proud of its all female guiding team, another reason for this lodge to stand out from the crowd.

Chobe Game Lodge is part of the Desert & Delta group. We recommend a number of their properties in this region, and they can be combined to make an exceptional circuit. Other camps in this group include: Camp Okavango, Camp Xakanaxa, Savute Safari Lodge, Xugana Island Lodge, Leroo-La-Tau and Camp Moremi.
