Sala's Camp has just 7 tented suites and sits in a pretty location south of the Mara Confluence area within the main reserve - where the Sand and Keekorok Rivers meet. This is a great area for witnessing river crossings of the Great Migration between late June and September time and offers wonderful wildlife year-round, with elephants sightings a real highlight between December and March.
The camp has a beautiful setting right on the river bank and the scenery really adds to your stay. Sala's offers a very traditional stay in the Mara. The camp is tented and is designed to be low impact. The camp underwent renovation in 2016 and now offers rooms with plunge pools.
Sala’s Camp offers space, comfort and great views. The camp accommodates up to 16 guests in seven luxury tents including a spacious honeymoon tent, which can also accommodate a family of up to four. The Camp’s interiors are elegant and comfortable. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, running water and flushing toilets. Electricity is solar-powered and there is a standby generator for refrigeration and charging devices. Drinks are usually enjoyed around the camp fire and dinner is served under the stars. All guests enjoy full-board during their stay, which includes all meals and most drinks, excluding champagne and specially imported wines and spirits. There are activities on offer for children of all ages and babysitting is available. The camp is also suitable for guests with limited disabilities and special meals can be catered for by prior arrangement.
Rooms 1, 2, 6 and 7 offer plunge pools.
Activities revolve around 4x4 game safaris in the Mara Confluence area, close to the border with the Serengeti. This area can get busy during the peak months as visitors come to witness the migration. However being so close Sala's guests tend to reach the prime areas first. It is also possible to book hot air ballooning from nearby Keekorok, a large commercial facility. Because of the camp's location within the main national reserve it is not possible to do night drives or walking from Sala's Camp - if these activities are of interest then you should consider an alternative camp in a private conservancy like Serian.
