Serengeti Sopa Serengeti, Tanzania

The lodge is set in the Nyarboro Hills in the South West of the National Park, overlooking the Serengeti plains. It offers an excellent setting for year-round game-viewing in these predator rich area, especially during the months when the Great Migration is passing.

Although a larger lodge, its location and design makes it a good selection if you want more of a hotel experience, as the lodge offers many facilities.

Facilities

In total the Serenegti Sopa offers 69 rooms, each tastefully decorated and furnished using local materials, fabrics and pictures. Each room has a private verandah with comfortable chairs to allow some private game-viewing from the comfort of your own room.

There are also 4 spacious double storey suites, with a lounge area on the ground floor where one can dine, sit out on the balcony facing the Serengeti Plains. Upstairs is the bedroom with a king size bed on a raised wooden platform, and on one side a bathtub facing the plains. There is an outside open shower as well.

The interior of the suites are painted with the same colours as the main building, terracotta, mustard and blue, which is incorporated in the fabrics. A verandah extends from the room facing the plains, ideal for relaxing and watching the spectacular serengeti sunset.

Unlike most other safari lodges throughout East Africa, the main building does not have a traditionally African thatched roof.  It has instead a flat roof which we often use for cocktails and sundowners.

However, when you step down from these lofty heights into the sudden coolness of the reception lobby and move on, you will find stairs and ramps which either take you down to the dining room, with its outdoor terrace.

Activities

Game-viewing is the primary activity. You will have driven here in one of our 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by your own personal driver-guide. Just arriving is a game-drive, passing through some excellent areas for wildlife viewing. Most of our clients would stay two nights and on your full day here you have the option of a full day in the Park, bringing packed lunched with you. This allows you to explore further from the lodge and explore areas where the most game has recently been spotted.
