Situated on a private concession on the Eastern boundary of Hwange National Park and with stunning views across a permanent waterhole, The Hide is one of Hwange’s best safari lodges. Drive to one of Hwange’s game-rich pans, journey on foot within the private concession or sleep out in the Dove’s Nest for an overnight adventure. The waterhole just metres from camp attracts a great variety of life. Smart A frame thatched chalets, including two family chalets, are very comfortable with indoor bath and outdoor shower and verandahs facing the pan (waterhole).
There are three different areas to the Hide Tented Camp; the Private Hide, Tim's Little Hide and Dove's Nest. The Hide has been designed to accommodate up to twenty guests. There are eight standard tents and two luxury or honeymoon tents. One tent is wheelchair friendly. The Private Hide can hold up to 10 people at a time and Tents 7 and 6 are large deluxe or family tents, which can accommodate two adults and two children in full-size beds. Each tent has its own en suite bathroom – indoor bath, inside and outdoor shower and hot water all day. All rooms are mosquito-proofed and have fans for your comfort during the warmer months. Tom’s Little Hide is a secluded three bedroom cottage with awesome views of the waterhole. The luxury cottage offers a great retreat for the family or a group wanting a little more luxury and privacy. The Dove's Nest is a secluded tree-house just for two - perfect for a romantic getaway or a honeymoon.
The hub of the camp is the signature “A” frame lodge where you relax in their spacious lounge and viewing area. There is also plunge pool for a refreshing dip after a dusty game drive and a nice dining room. The spacious lodges areas are very tastefully furnished with traditional Zimbabwean teak. Meals are served in elegance and style around a magnificent 22 seater teak dining room table. Tea and cake is best enjoyed in the upstairs lounge overlooking the pan. Meanwhile, breakfast is served under the shady acacia trees which all adds the wonderful atmosphere of the Hide Tented Camp. And better still is the Underground Hide and wine cellar which can be reached by tunnel underground and which open out overooking the watering hole.
Activities are varied at The Hide with a good range available due to their location on a private concession. Many visitors will find theat the wildife comes to them, to the camp waterhole in front of camp but for those wanting to explore further afield there are 4x4 game drives, walks and hides to enjoy.
