Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 - 3

Mana Pools
On arrival in Harare you will transfer to your onwards flight to Mana Pools Airstrip. On arrival there you will be met and transferred to your safari camp, Zambezi Expeditions. You will spend the next few days enjoying guided game drives in open 4x4 , safari walks and canoe safaris. Mana Pools National Park: The life-giving power of the Zambezi River makes Mana Pools National Park one of Zimbabwe’s most lush and flourishing regions, designated as the country’s second World Heritage Site and known as one of the continent’s premier game-viewing regions. Canoe trips are offered year-round and provide a unique and memorable way for visitors to experience the area’s striking scenic beauty and diverse fauna, while guided walks are a great way to take its pristine riverside forests.

DAY 4 - 5

Kanga Pan, Mana Pools
Today following breakfast you will head off on a game drive to your next camp. Set in the most remote part of the World Heritage Site in Mana Pools is the Kanga Pan. Kanga Pan itself is the only known water source in the area available throughout the year, making it a hub for wildlife and a delight to explore on foot. Game abounds on the flood plains and in the Mopane woodlands of Mana Pools. Kanga Pan particularly attracts great game in big concentrations as it is the only water found in the floodplain above the river. The predators, including lion, wild dog and leopard are often sighted and large concentrations of buffalo can be found in the Mopane woodland and open plains studded with Ilala Palms. Kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains. Elephant take advantage of the plentiful albida trees in the area. Bird watching is also a great attraction.

DAY 6 - 8

Hwange National Park
This morning you will fly to Hwange National Park where you will be met and transferred to Somalisa Camp. Activities over the next few days include guided bush walks accompanied by qualified and professional guides as well as game drives, spot lighting and game viewing from hides. Guests can expect to see elephant, kudu and sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, lion, leopard, hyena, and other wildlife species. Hwange National Park: A haven for over 100 mammals and 400 bird species, the park protects populations of all of Zimbabwe’s endangered species, elephants numbering in excess of 20,000 (up from around 4,000 when the park was proclaimed), and what is thought to be one of the largest populations of African wild dog left in the world. Large prides of lion and buffalo are frequently seen here and you have a good chance of spotting leopard and rhino in addition to cheetah and spotted hyena. The wild and woolly brown hyena also occurs here and is something of a rarity.
