Borana is a not-for-profit conservancy dedicated to the sustainable conservation of land and wildlife.

Safari Itinerary

DAY 1-3

Borana Conservancy
This morning you fly from Nairobi's Wilson airport on a short flight to Lewa Downs Airstrip. On arrival at the airstrip you are met by rangers from Borana and transferred to the lodge, enjoying a wonderful game drive through the beautiful Lewa Conservancy home to a plethora of wildlife including all the Big Five. There is time to relax in the afternoon before heading out on a game drive for sunset. Lewa and Borana are two separate wildlife conservancies, with no fence between them. Together they create 94,000 acres of contiguous ecosystem with the ability to support over 100 rhino. Both are making great strides working with the local community, other conservancies and each other to conserve Kenya's wildlife. The conservancies in particular are a sanctuary for black and white rhino although you will see a great variety of wildlife, including predators such as lion and leopard and rare species like Grevy's Zebra. Vehicles are equipped with identification booklets and profiles on all the rhinos and as well as specific rhino conservation activities there are many other exciting opportunities for visitors to take advantage of. Over the next few days enjoy exploring this wonderful place, guided by Borana's expert rangers, including a chance to witness firsthand the vital efforts being made to conserve rhino. You can join a deployment, chat with Sam Taylor, who heads up the anti-poaching unit here, witness darting (if any is scheduled during your visit), and assist the rangers with their conservation tasks. We thoroughly recommend spending one day on the Lewa Conservancy where the anti-poaching Dog Squad is based - go out for the day, complete with a picnic lunch, join an exercise with the dog squad and learn about how the dogs are crucial to the battle against poaching, while also enjoying a superb safari on Lewa of course! Game drives, bush walks, mountain biking, horse riding and superb sundowner excursions are just some of the activities included during your stay at Borana. There is also a wonderful swimming pool with views over the valley and the food here is a real highlight. Everything is included with regards to your food and drink so you can really indulge and enjoy the hospitality.

Return to Nairobi
Today after breakfast enjoy a game drive to Lewa Downs where you will meet your flight and return to Nairobi.
