Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 - 3

South Luangwa National Park
On arrival at Lusaka you need to transfer to your flight to Mfuwe Airport. On arrival at Mfuwe International Airport you will be met by a representative of Nkwali Camp and will be transferred to camp. The Luangwa Valley is vast, remote and home to both people and a truly impressive variety of game. The South Luangwa Park is 9050 sq. kilometres; with the river, its tributaries and the riverine strips being the focus of the wildlife viewing. There are diverse habitats, from huge ox bow lagoons of varying stages of maturity, woodlands, ebony groves, grassland and thickets, that host a great variety of wildlife. The birdlife is also excellent with over 450 species to be seen. You spend the next couple of days enjoying breakfast around the campfire. The morning bush walk or game drive will depart soon after. You enter the park by boat from the camp or by the nearby pontoon. The game is excellent – and includes many family herds of elephant and the endemic species of Thornicroft Giraffe. A mid-morning break for tea, coffee and cake will be taken at a scenic point on a lagoon or the Luangwa River. Return to camp for lunch around midday. Following lunch, you can cool off in the swimming pool or have a siesta. After tea you will go out on an afternoon game drive that continues into the evening give you the chance to see the nocturnal world.

DAY 4 - 7

South Luangwa National Park
After an early breakfast, a game drive through the park and across the river takes you into the Nsefu Sector, which is recognised as a phenomenal game view area. Nsefu Camp is a stunning permanent camp nestled up on the banks of the Luangwa River in the famous Nsefu sector of the park. With views up and down the Luangwa, the six rooms have one of the best settings of any Luangwa camp and have a team of guides that are up there with the best. The view of the river is superb and includes a terraced area where game grazes during the day. The bar and sitting room, tucked in beside a huge extinct termite mound, overlooks a waterhole that is very productive for game, especially leopard at night. Activities include game drives, visiting the local village and exploring the salt pans.

DAY 8 - 10

Victoria Falls
Today you will fly via Lusaka to Livingstone Airport. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Stanley Safari Lodge your home for the next few nights. Victoria Falls is located on the Zambezi River, the fourth-largest river in Africa, which also defines the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. As the mighty Zambezi River crashes over a basalt rock ledge and drops 354 feet or 108 metres down into a powerful whirlpool, it forms the largest sheet of falling water on the planet: the Victoria Falls. Traditionally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (which, aptly, means ‘The Smoke that Thunders’) the Falls are one of the seven wonders of the world. The falling water’s impressive roar can sometimes be heard from 25 miles or 40 kilometres away. On a wind-free day during high-water season, which runs from about February to July depending on the rain, a dazzling cloud of mist can float high above the Falls. There is a wide range of other activities on offer including fishing, canoe trips on the river, game drives in the Mosi-Oa- Tunya National Park. For the more adventurous, Livingstone boasts a wide range of adrenaline filled activities including Whitewater rafting, bungee jumping and micro lighting (some activities are for own account). Or you may just wish to rest in the lodge and enjoy the spectacular scenery and peaceful atmosphere.
