Northern Serengeti Fly-in - Migration Explorer

The Great Migration thunders north across the Serengeti plains to fresh grazing in the Masai Mara but before it can reach the Mara the animals need to cross several rivers including the Grumeti, the Mara and the Talek Rivers. It is the crossing of the Mara River which poses the greatest obstacle, in the far north Serengeti, where hungry giant Nile crocodiles wait. It is these river crossings that many hope to see.

This fly-in safari offers you a choice of superb lodges in the northern sector of the Serengeti, perfect for a safari between June and November time when the wildebeest can be seeing first tracking north to the Mara, and then south on their way back to the southern Serengeti to calve. Select from Serengeti Migration Camp, Sayari Camp, Lemala Kuria Hills, Serengeti Serian North Mobile Camp.

As you can imagine, getting 'off the beaten track' at this time of the year is a challenge. However with these camps/lodges we can offer you a degree of exclusivity - all the properties suggested here are small and well-positioned.

The Real Africa Trust works with leading conservation organisations to raise awareness as well as raising funds for specific projects. Safari Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrive Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met and transferred to the lovely Mount Meru Game Lodge for the night - a perfect place to rest up after your international flight.

DAY 2-6

The Serengeti
You will be transferred to the airport in the morning for your light aircraft flight to the airstrip in the northern Serengeti. You will then enjoy a game drive to your camp (please see pricing below for a selection of four camps - all handpicked for their location). The Mara River in the northern part of the Serengeti is the greatest hurdle for the wildebeest - a vast and rushing river populated by hungry crocodiles - a far more challenging prospect than the Grumeti River which consists of many small channels. This is the spectacle many visitors want to see and so it is no surprise that lodges in the area near the river throughout July, August and September especially are booked to full capacity. It is essential to book as early as possible if you are keen to be in the Serengeti/Masai Mara at this time. Following the migration are all the predators ensuring that your days here on safari are action-packed!

DAY 7

Return to Arusha
Following breakfast you will will enjoy a game drive back to the airstrip for your flight to Arusha, where you can relax at the Mt Meru Game Lodge before being taken to the airport to meet your international departure.
