This is a wonderful fly-drive safari combining two key and contrasting wildlife areas in Kenya. The not-for-profit private Ol Pejeta Conservancy is in Laikipia, near Mount Kenya and is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and a haven for the last two remaining Northern White Rhinos in the world. This area is home to all the Big Five and has a higher wildlife to area ratio than any other park in Kenya. Game drives are conducted in your own private vehicle with driver/guide. The conservancy does vital conservation and community work. You can also visit the chimpanzee sanctuary during your stay, opened by Jane Goodall.
You then fly to the iconic Masai Mara, to the exclusive Mara North Conservancy. Your camp sits riverside and is the perfect place to explore this incredible wilderness area.
We think this fly-drive works really well however if you would prefer a private vehicle and driver throughout you may find our Classic Kenya or Big Five Safari itineraries of interest.
Ol Pejeta was purchased in 2004 by Flora and Fauna International, with financial support from a private philanthropic organisation, Arcus Foundation. 90,000 acres of savannah grassland was converted from cattle ranch to national land trust. As well as being a sanctuary for rhino, Ol Pejeta has one of the highest densities of predators in Kenya and a chimp sanctuary, opened by Jane Goodall, to rehabilitate rescued animals. We have a close relationship with Ol Pejeta and have raised funds to donate a new tracking Spaniel to join their anti poaching canine unit (November 2018). The Mara North Conservancy is a partnership between eleven member camps and over 800 Maasai landowners. Their aim is to create a best practise, world class conservancy with long term commitments to the environment, wildlife and local communities. Karen Blixen Tented Camp offers an adjacent cookery school for young Maasai, just one of the projects in this area. Your stay will directly contribute to conservation.Plan My Journey Speak To Us
