Ultimate Botswana

The ultimate safari to Botswana; explore the Okavango Delta and the remote Selinda Spillway, staying in some of the finest luxury camps in Africa. Extend your journey with a stay in Victoria Falls.

Camps are owned by Great Plains Conservation who via their not for profit Great Plains Foundation work to conserve Africa's great plains, and the wildlife we all love to see there. Projects include Rhinos without Borders - an ambitious translocation of rhino from South Africa to Botswana, a programme your safari stay will help to support. In addition, on behalf of all clients travelling Real Africa makes a donation to The Real Africa Trust which works with a number of leading conservation organisations including Rhino Conservation Botswana and Save the Elephants. The Trust's current campaign, Explorers against Extinction has successfully raised enough money to fund a brand new canine unit for RCB. Two pups are currently in training with Animals saving Animals to be deployed to Botswana in summer 2018 as rhino protection dogs. Visit our News and Conservation pages for more info!

Safari Itinerary

DAY 1-2

The Okavango Delta
Fly from Maun to the airstrip at Duba Plains in the far northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, where you will enjoy the next two nights exploring this wonderful wildlife wilderness. The newly renovated Duba Plains (opening spring 2017) sits within a 77,000-acre concession run by the Okavango Community Trust.

DAY 3-4

The Selinda Concession
Fly from the Duba airstrip to the Selinda airstrip, by helicopter*, enjoying spectacular views of the 1,350km² Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana, which incorporates game-rich floodplains, the Zibalianja Lagoon and the Selinda Spillway. There’s long been a camp here and its focus has always been big game safaris in the dry country of the Spillway. Now it’s part-owned by famous photographers, and so has a strong accent on the art of photography. The Selinda Spillway – or Magwegqana Spillway, as it’s often known – is a vital ancient watercourse linking the Okavango Delta to the Kwando–Linyanti River drainage system. Although dry for decades, the Spillway has flowed annually since a particularly good rainy season in 2006. Now partly owned by renowned film-makers Dereck and Beverly Joubert, the Selinda Reserve has been made famous in their films for National Geographic. Wide, dry grasslands, dotted with waterholes and interspersed with palm-fringed 'islands' and stands of leadwood trees, cover the area as far as the eye can see. It's a picturesque, open environment and guests can spot game a long way off. It's perfect for following predators like wild dogs on hunting sorties.

DAY 5-6

Selinda Concession
Today enjoy a game drive from Selinda Camp to Zarafa, one of Botswana's most exclusive properties. You have two nights at Zarafa to enjoy day and night game drives and walking safaris with your expert guides.
