This short fly-in safari is designed to give you ample time to explore the remote South Luangwa with every opportunity to see the abundant wildlife the area is known for.
Mfuwe Lodge, a permanent lodge on a lagoon, is a great base in the valley and is famous for the resident elephants who seasonally visit the lodge to raid the mango trees. They walk up the steps, right through reception, occasionally picking up a teacup on their way to the mangoes.
Night drives with a tracker and spotlight are a real highlight of a stay in the valley and give a good chance to see big cats hunting, and hopefully to see the elusive leopard in action.
The South Luangwa is a vast park with many different habitats ranging from the river and lagoons to mopane forest. Magnificent baobabs stud the landscape which transforms from dry bushveld to a glorious green oasis upon the arrival of the rains in November.
