La Digue

La Digue is utterly charming. With no airport and no roads for cars, the only way to get about is walking, bicycle or ox cart. The whole island is easily accessible as it is only 10km2.

La Digue is a real get away from it all place with laid back, simple guesthouses, a couple of more luxurious hotels and simple cafes and restaurants – most of these are located around the marina where you arrive on the west coast of the island at La Passe.

It is well worth hiring a bike and cycling to Grande Anse on the wild east coast, as well as spending time at Anse Source D’Argent, one of the Seychelles most famous beaches on the west coast. You can see giant tortoises near the beach here.

The inter island ferry is very easy – there are two fast catamarans which make the crossing from Praslin to La Digue in around 15/20 minutes. These operate around 6 times a day. The cats have replaced the 30 person schooner service making access far easier.
