Nyungwe Forest National Park

Since 2004 this forest has been protected by National Park status and remains the largest swathe of montane forest in East/central Africa. The forest is incredible beautiful with towering mahogany and ebony trees and a dizzying array of flora and fauna including 13 different species of primate. Many visitors come to see chimps, trekking through the forest to see them in a similar fashion to the gorillas.

The Canopy Walk, some 50m above the forest floor is a fantastic way to enjoy the higher levels of the forest if you can brave the metal bridge.

All our guests stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge
