Situated in a private concession on the Masai Mara – and bordering the Serengeti and Loliondo reserves – Cottar’s 1920s Camp is a traditional tented safari camp reminiscent of scenes from Out of Africa and evocative of a golden era when safaris were characterised by uninhibited adventure and romance.
Under the shade of a cluster of acacia trees with expansive views across the Mara plains, this classic camp accommodates 28 guests in authentic white canvas en suite tents. Each tent is looked after by its own butler.
The camp features two mess tents comprising an assortment of areas for dining, reading and relaxing. The crystal-clear swimming pool is a serene place to cool off in the heat of the day and an on-site beauty therapist offers an extensive range of treatments in the comfort of your spacious tent.
A Maasai warrior or 'askari' escort guests around the camp after sundown. Wi-Fi is available in communal areas of the camp.
You stay in a double luxury tent with private facilities on an all-inclusive basis including daily game drives in the lodge’s 4X4 vehicle (shared with other guests), bush meals, sundowners and Masai Mara warrior school. It is also possible to enjoy night drives and walking here.
The camp has 10 tents in total (one unique honeymoon tent, five double tents and four family suites), all with en suite bathrooms. The family tents have living rooms with fireplaces. The entire camp is situated to ensure that tents are private and quiet whether for honeymooners or families with young children.
The camp has two main mess tent areas for fine dining, drinking, reading and relaxing. An exciting new addition is an amazing pool and spa area where guests can relax after a game drive. Guests can also enjoy a safari bath or safari shower, specifically set up in the savannah should they wish for a genuinely unique way of bathing!
