Garonga is an exclusive camp in the greater Makalali Conservancy, situated west of the Kruger National Park. The camp has been designed to reflect the natural surroundings, with muted tones and thatched main lodge areas.

Garonga features 12 spacious tented rooms that are airy and feature large draped beds, and both an indoor and alluring outdoor shower. A lovely wooden deck has a relaxing hammock and offers spectacular views over the Makalali Conservancy.

Activities

Garonga offers a true ‘Big Five’ safari experience, with expert guides and trackers who are knowledgeable about the wide variety of animals in the nature reserve.  Your stay will typically include a morning and afternoon game drive on open-air Landrovers.  Enjoy tea, coffee and snacks in the bush on morning game drives, and cocktails or a glass of wine as the sun sets on evening game drives.  In addition to the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and white/black rhino), there is also cheetah, hippo, crocodiles, spotted hyenas, wild dog, and plains animals like zebras, giraffes and several species of buck. Safari walks with a game ranger are another highlight, bringing guests up close to the flora and fauna of the nature reserve. The Garonga guides will also point out the varied birdlife, and explain how they track animals by their prints.
