Muchenje Safari Lodge enjoys a unique position to the west of Botswana’s famed Chobe National Park in the Forest Reserve well away from the bustle of Kasane.
Muchenje sits on an escarpment with wonderful views over the Chobe River, and the Caprivi Strip and seasonal flood plains below and beyond.
Muchenje Safari Lodge’s position means that it is far away from the main traffic area in the park, allowing guests to enjoy extensive game drives in a rarely visited section of the Chobe National Park. In addition, as the Lodge is located in the Chobe Forest Reserve, game walks and night drives are also available, which add immeasurably to the wildlife experience.
In our opinion Muchenje is a great option - it's easily accessible by road from Kasane, and is great in combination with a stay in Victoria Falls. Because of the easy access , the lodge offers very good value and works out far more cost-effective if you are looking for a Botswana safari without paying the price of an Okavango Delta lodge accessed only by a light aircraft.
There are 11 comfy thatched cottages each with air conditioning, private deck and views over the escarpment. One cottage is a family cottage with open plan bedroom able to accommodate a family of four. Communal areas are well designed with a camp fire and again several lovely decks with super views. There's a small pool and gym as well. The main building is a spilt level one, with high thatched roof and open sides.
Guests are invited to jouin morning and afyernoon game drives in custom 4x4 safari vehicles - these explore not only the Forest Reserve but also the wider Chobe National Park and river. Walks and night drives are also offered in the Forest Reserve.
