Pongwe Beach Hotel is a small hotel situated on the beautiful tropical island of Zanzibar. With only 20 rooms, this initimate beach hotel offers a true getaway experience, perfect for those seeking relaxation or looking for a romantic break. All of the rooms have been built in a traditional Zanzibari style employing a local labour force from the nearby Pongwe village. The rooms have a coconut palm thatched roof, lime wash walls and hand-crafted wooden doors. Within the rooms there is hand crafted furniture and a large en suite bathroom with Moroccan style walk in showers. There are 3 room categories which are spread across the property and which are suitable for different budgets; and some of which can be used as family rooms.
The restaurant uses only the finest ingredients from around the island of Zanzibar and offers a variety of meals with fresh seafood and fish available daily; while still being small enough to cater for all dietary requirements.
The bar stocks local and imported drinks as well as making daily fresh juices and cocktails – perfect for enjoying next to the inifinity pool.
The beach is on a private cove at the back of a stunning coral lagoon. This is the picture perfect beach with white-powdery sands and the turquoise ocean. Pongwe Beach is lucky in the fact that the whole beach is protected by an offshore reef which keeps the inner waters calm and safe for all to swim in. Snorkelling and boat trips can also be arranged to the reef.
