Siwandu Camp Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania

Siwandu Camp is a 10-minute game drive from the airstrip and is located in a grove of palms on the shore of Lake Nzerakera. As well as ensuring a stunning backdrop for the camp, this lakeshore location offers a consistency of game viewing as the animals gravitate around the lake and is the only place in East Africa where you can experience water-based game activities.

After your orientation briefing you will have the time to settle into your tented suite overlooking the lake before a mouth-watering two course lunch on the Pontoon boat. Tucking into your lunch whilst drifting past crocodiles and hippos adds a very different dimension to the culinary experience!

Meet your fellow safari friends over afternoon tea and freshly baked cake before embarking on your first game activity followed by camp fire drinks, a delicious, freshly prepared, three course dinner under the stars and a peaceful sleep with the noises of the bush just beyond the canvas.

Accommodation comes in the form of luxury tents, which boast en-suite bathrooms and ceiling fans. South Camp possesses 7 tents, while North Camp holds 6. This is great for controlling the level of intimacy felt in camp in relation to the size of guest numbers, with the camp able to be compressed with few visitors present.

Each section of the camp includes its own dining area, bar and swimming pool. Delicious wines and cuisine are prepared by the camp chefs. Guests have everything they need at each fully stocked camp, with a jetty for boat safaris and game viewing vehicles on hand.

Aside from a curio shop present in South Camp, the two sections are very much the same, with accommodation practically identical. The octagonal tents are sheltered under thatched roofs and raised off the ground, each possessing a veranda from which to look out upon the lake. The comfortable tent interior is the perfect place to relax after a hard day on safari.

Guests stay in a Double Tented Suite with private facilities on an all-inclusive basis and including daily game activities (on a shared basis with other guests).
