There has been a lot going on here at Real Africa over the past few months. First of all we welcomed our new Marketing Manager Sara to the team back in the autumn. Then it was full on with our new brochure being published just a few weeks before Christmas. Over the past few months our team has been out and about meeting people at various shows such as Destinations and enjoying the chance to get out of the office for a few days. Even more excitingly we have also added a lot of new hotels and safari lodges to our portfolio and also added new destinations such as Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and the Indian Ocean ( which you can find under our Beach category on the website).
Ethiopia is the first of our new destinations but actually an old favourite amongst the team at Real Africa. Three out of the six of us have been there and loved it, the most recent being our intrepid explorer Lily. It also appears to be something that lots of you are excited about as we have had lots of enquiries about it at Destinations. We are pleased to be offering a comprehensive Northern Ethiopia Historic Route which covers all the main sites such as Gondar, Axum, Lalibela as well as Addis Abbaba and the Simien Mountains. Ethiopia is truly a unique country with an unbelievably rich cultural and religious history. The historic sites have been well preserved and are numerous in number making this a history buff’s paradise. From the underground churches hewn straight from the rock to the impressive medieval castles there is something to take your breath away every day! Combine this with some stunning scenery in the Simien Mountains and the warmth and welcome from the Ethiopians themselves and you can see why this country is one of our favourites. We also have various extension options including the South and the Bale Mountains and you can even combine it with some beach time thanks to flights in and out of Nairobi, Kenya.
The Indian Ocean has actually been something we have offered since the beginning as we have a wide range of beach accommodation throughout Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar. We have gradually been extending it by including Mozambique and Mauritius and we are now pleased to be able to offer the Seychelles as well. There is a wide range of accommodation on offer from small boutique hotels with a handful of rooms to large 5 star resorts with lots of watersports and facilities available. We have peaceful hotels, romantic hotels and family friendly hotels to choose from. These can all be booked as stand alone beach holidays or as extensions to safari holidays on the mainland. One of our favourite new finds is a favourite of Sara’s, Chole Mjini, which can be found on a tiny castaway island called Mafia Island, off the coast of Tanzania. This quirky place is based around rustic treehouses and is run as a real get-away experience where you can escape the pressures of modern life. Run by a family it is a laid back, welcoming place to be and a unique experience to be treasured. Shoes are definitely optional!
Finally we are also welcoming back Zimbabwe to the fold as the country enjoys new found stability and peace. It has always been an incredible destination for a safari with some amazing accommodation ranging from small exclusive tented camps to luxury hotels. The main places to visit are Hwange National Park , Mana Pools, Lake Kariba and the world famous Victoria Falls. For those of you who have already enjoyed a safari in East Africa and are looking for a new experience then a safari in Southern Africa is an excellent option with safaris on offer in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. We have also expanded our range across the board with new and exciting places to stay in Malawi, Mozambique and Namibia too.
2014 looks like being a very exciting year here at Real Africa!
