Guide Henry captures stunning series of pictures in Samburu, Kenya

  • 21st March 2014

Congratulations to Henry, one of Real Africa’s guides based in Kenya, who, against stiff competition, took the winning image for February.

Henry was in Samburu on an evening game drive when he spotted this beautiful leopard in a tree, scanning the horizon for supper.

Samburu is famous for its leopards which can often been seen, particularly in the evening, coming to drink at the singing wells, used by the Samburu people to water their cattle.

Henry said this one was in no rush and he was able to observe it for some time, taking a selection of images. The one pictured above is his favourite.

Here are some of Henry’s other pictures.

We are able to book some fantastic lodges in Samburu, including Sarara Lodge, in the Matthews Range and near to the Sarara Singing Well. This luxurious lodge set amidst 850,000 hectares of prime wilderness has stunning views across to the mountains and only six tents with alfresco bathrooms and private decks. There is also a rock hewn pool to enjoy. The family owned lodge works with the community and with the Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust.

The lodge opens seasonally in the dry season. If you would like to visit this area of Northern Kenya, we recommend a fly-in safari, combining two nights at Sarara with three nights in the Masai Mara for a truly unforgettable journey.   Please ring us on 01603 283517 for details.
