The new term has started at Ololchura school in the Masai Mara, south-west Kenya. The students returned to find the new classroom our Trust has been building completed and ready for use. That was the good news. The bad news was that Tamoo, the Headmaster, got them inside for a start-of-term examination to see how much they’d forgotten over the summer break…
The children were apparently delighted with the new classroom and all the new furniture that was donated by a English family.
Tamoo was also delighted. His main aim is to encourage more girls from the local Masai communities to be allowed to come to school and believes that the provision of new amenities such as this impresses parents and sways them in their decision. We hope he’s right and will continue to try to support him, the governors and the community in educating their children.
