African Bush Camps: Moremi, Linyanti and the Falls

A truly lovely safari experience staying at the wonderful African Bush Camps in the Moremi and Linyanti areas of Botswana before spending a couple of days exploring the Zambian side of Victoria Falls.

African Bush Camps have a romantic Out of Africa atmosphere with traditional tents and luxurious touches to ensure your comfort. You go on twice daily game drives exploring each area with the diverse wildlife and wonderful scenery. Nights are spent under the Africa starry skies enjoying a sundowner or out on a night safari, an activity unique to Botswana's private concessions. You then end your holiday in the world famous Victoria Falls where you have a couple of days to explore and enjoy the Falls, the Zambezi River and the local wildlife in the national park from the Zambian side.

The Real World Conservation Trust (formerly Real Africa Trust) works with leading conservation organisations to raise awareness as well as raising funds for specific projects. Partners include Save the Elephants, Save the Rhino, The Sheldrick Trust, Rhino Conservation Botswana and Animals saving Animals. You can find out more on our Conservation pages. On behalf of every client travelling, Real Africa makes a donation to the Trust. Our aim is to raise awareness about the plight of endangered species and to promote sustainable, socially responsible travel which benefits the wildlife and communities you choose to visit. The Trust's current campaign, Explorers against Extinction has successfully raised enough money to fund a brand new canine unit for RCB. Two pups were trained with Animals saving Animals and deployed to Botswana in summer 2018 as rhino protection dogs. Visit our News and Conservation pages for more info! African Bush Camps runs its own charitable Foundation which you contribute to when booking a stay with them. Water and energy are precious resources that are too often in short supply in arid Africa. The Foundation seeks to assist in putting the best environmental methods into practice in each African Bush Camps safari camp, from solar-powered waterholes to basic energy conservation programmes. Outside the camps, they work with the surrounding communities to implement human-wildlife conflict mitigation techniques and work with both elders and children to learn and understand innovative ways to conserve resources whilst implementing sustainable land-use practices.

Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 - 3

Khwai Concession (Moremi Reserve)
On arrival in Maun you transfer to your onward flight. You then fly to Khwai Airstrip where you will be met and transferred to the camp in time for lunch or tea before your afternoon game drive. You spend the next couple of days enjoying twice daily game drives with your expert driver/guide. The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced boundary allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season. The Khwai area offers the same wildlife experience as the Moremi reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives. You will hopefully see lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe.

DAY 4 - 6

Linyanti (Chobe)
This morning you will fly from Khwai to Saile Airstrip where you will be met and transferred to Linyanti Bush Camp. You will arrive in time for lunch or tea and an afternoon game drive. You will spend the next few days doing two game drives a day with your expert guides. The Kwando-Linyanti river system is home to a series of private game reserves, known for their exotic animal species and luxury safari options. An abundance of wildlife roams freely between the woodland habitats, ancient floodplains and forests that make up these lush, unfenced reserves. The big game in this area increases dramatically during the dry season when the area hosts large herds of impala, blue wildebeest, giraffe and buffalo as well as the world’s highest density of elephant. Several packs of wild dog are found in the area and lion, leopard and cheetah are frequently sighted. Night drives allow for the discovery of nocturnal creatures such as civets, genets, honey badgers and spring hares. This vast, untamed wilderness is the perfect location for these seeking a unique African adventure in an exclusive and remote big game habitat.

DAY 7 - 9

Victoria Falls
This morning you will fly to Kasane where you then transfer by road into Zambia and Victoria Falls. You will spend the next few days exploring the area around Victoria Falls as your riverside lodge is in the perfect location for explorin. You can also book optional activities such as game viewing. You do have several activities included in your stay; visit to Victoria Falls, village visit, sunset river cruise (on the Lodge’s own private boat), fishing, and a visit to the Livingstone Museum. Most visitors come to see the falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world’s largest curtain of falling water. There are a host of clearly marked and well-kept paths that wind through towering forests, and from the Zambian side of the falls, visitors can cross Knife-edge Bridge for spectacular views of the main falls. Outdoor adventurists can make the steep descent into the Boiling Pot and watch white-water rafters board for a wild ride on the Zambezi River. While the waterfalls are certainly a highlight of the national park, there’s also an entire section dedicated to wildlife-spotting. Depending on the time of year, it’s possible to spot zebras, giraffes, antelope, warthogs, many species of birds and rare rhinos. The national park also serves as an important point for elephants to cross the Zambezi River, so they’re often sighted as well.
