Classic Garden Route and Cape Town

This trip is for those of you who love stunning scenery. The world famous Garden Route is renowned for its beautiful mountains, forests, beaches, towns and villages as well as its incredible marine life. On this self-drive tour you will start in the east at Port Elizabeth and drive westwards visiting places such as Plettenberg Bay, Knysna Lagoon and Storms River. You will get the chance to see dolphins and perhaps even a whale or two at Hermanus before heading off to the wonderful Cape Winelands famous for its pretty towns, fabulous restaurants and those South African vineyards. Finally you head into Cape Town one of the most beautiful cities in the world where you have a few days to make the most of this extraordinary place. Safari Itinerary

DAY 1

Port Elizabeth
On arrival in Port Elizabeth you will be met and given your information pack and car. You will start your tour by driving the short distance to Carslogie House. Relax for the day or explore the nearby countryside and beaches.

DAY 2 - 3

Plettenberg Bay
Drive from Port Elizabeth to Plettenburg Bay via Jeffrey’s Bay, one of the world’s notable surfing areas. In season this is a great area for spotting whales and there are always dolphins around. You stay in a lovely country lodge on the edge of a nature reserve with fabulous views.

DAY 4

Hermanus
Today you check out and drive further along the Garden Route passing through Knysna en route. Your next destination is the seaside town of Hermanus. This little town is famous for its whale watching particularly from July to November where you can spot the Southern Right whales. It is also a pretty little town with a historic quarter with lots of shops, seaside cafes and seafood restaurants and plenty to keep you busy.

Safari Extension  You can add on a 2 night safari at Kariega Game Reserve in their River Lodge in Kenton on Sea in the Eastern Cape, a malaria-free zone. The price is based on staying in a thatched suite on an all inclusive basis and including two daily game drives.
