The Real World Conservation Trust (formerly Real Africa Trust) works with leading conservation organisations to raise awareness as well as raising funds for specific projects. Partners include Save the Elephants, Save the Rhino, The Sheldrick Trust, Rhino Conservation Botswana and Animals saving Animals. You can find out more on our Conservation pages. On behalf of every client travelling, Real Africa makes a donation to the Trust. Our aim is to raise awareness about the plight of endangered species and to promote sustainable, socially responsible travel which benefits the wildlife and communities you choose to visit. Robin Pope shares our mind-set and is involved directly in a number of projects in Zambia which include working with four schools in the Luangwa area that benefit the communities in which they operate, the Luangwa Safari Association Medical Fund, founded by Robin Pope Safaris that contributes to the upkeep of the main local clinic in Mfuwe and the Zambian Carnivore Programme which works to conserve large carnivore species.

Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 - 2

South Luangwa National Park
On arrival in Lusaka you transfer to your flight for Mfuwe Airstrip. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Nkwali Camp for the next few nights. You will spend the next few days enjoying game drives and bush walks in the South Luangwa. The Luangwa Valley is vast, remote and home to both people and a truly impressive variety of game. The South Luangwa Park is 9050 sq. kms. with the river, its tributaries and the riverine strips being the focus of the wildlife viewing. There are diverse habitats, from huge ox bow lagoons of varying stages of maturity, woodlands, ebony groves, grassland and thickets, that host a great variety of wildlife. The birdlife is also excellent with over 450 species to be seen.

DAY 3 - 4

South Luangwa National Park
After an early breakfast, a game drive through the park and across the river takes you into the Nsefu Sector, which is recognised as a phenomenal game view area. On arrival at Nsefu Camp you will enjoy lunch. Nsefu Camp is a stunning permanent camp nestled up on the banks of the Luangwa River in the infamous Nsefu sector of the park. The view of the river is superb and includes a terraced area where game grazes during the day. The bar and sitting room, tucked in beside a huge extinct termite mound, overlooks a waterhole that is very productive for game, especially leopard at night. If you can tear yourself away from camp then exciting game drives and bush walks await you where your knowledgeable guides will teach you all about the incredible wildlife in this area.

DAY 5 - 7

Lower Zambezi National Park
This morning you will fly back to Lusaka and then to the Royal Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park. As you fly into the area, you will see the wide Zambezi River, dotted with islands. Buffalo and elephant are always seen feeding along the with pods of hippos that rest on the edge of the sandbanks. A game drive from the airstrip introduces you to the game of Lower Zambezi before arriving at Chongwe River Camp. Lower Zambezi National Park is in southern Zambia, on the Zimbabwean border. In the south, the Zambezi River valley is known for abundant wildlife, including buffalo, fish eagles and herds of elephants. Canoes ply the river, which is home to hippos and crocodiles. In the east, the river passes past the striking red cliffs of Mupata Gorge, with its fish-filled waters. North is the steep and rugged Zambezi Escarpment. At Chongwe River Camp, activities are tailored to make the most of this incredibly diverse wilderness. Game viewing can be done from a vehicle in either the Lower Zambezi National Park or the Chiawa Partnership Park or, if you prefer, from a boat on the Zambezi. Canoeing, walking and, of course, fishing, are also offered.
