DAY 1-3
Waterberg
Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will be met and transferred by road to the Waterberg area and to your lodge in the Jembisa Reserve (the journey is around 3.5 hours without a stop). On arrival, enjoy a short rest before departing on your afternoon/evening game drive. Jembisa lies in the heart of the UNESCO World Biosphere reserve of the Waterberg. It is a breathtakingly beautiful reserve that encompasses a wide diversity of habitats and biomes including savannah plains, syringa forests, riverine forests, gullies, rock faces, cliffs, flood plains and with 7km of the Palala river meandering through it. During your stay, enjoy morning and afternoon/evening game drives as well as bush walks.

DAY 4-7
Madikwe
Your early morning game drive is followed by breakfast. After breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Madikwe Private Reserve and your safari lodge, the Bush House (the journey is around 4 hours without a stop). On arrival, enjoy a short rest before departing on your afternoon/evening game drive. Over the next few days enjoy twice daily game drives looking for the rare African wild dog, the Big Five and the fabulous wildlife that lives in this important conservation area. You don't even have to leave the camp as they have a discreet hide overlooking the most active waterhole at the camp where you can watch elephants and other game. Madikwe Game Reserve is a conservation area in South Africa’s North West Province, bordering Botswana. The reserve’s grassland, forest and rocky Tshwene Tshwene hills are home to a variety of wildlife. The Big 5 is represented in the park and you are likely to spot a lion, leopard, elephant, rhino or buffalo during your stay. During your visit you will also have the rare privilege of possibly seeing the highly endangered African Wild Dog. In 1994, a small group of six wild dogs were introduced into the park. This founding group has seen a challenging introduction into the park with rabies outbreaks, territorial clashes and encounters with some feisty lions. Despite the odds, current day Madikwe has a thriving wild dog population with three hunting packs roaming the park. The dogs are somewhat accustomed to safari vehicles offering spectacular photographic opportunities. Madikwe Game Reserve’s conservation efforts to protect the ‘painted dog’ are in place to help conserve this majestic diminishing species.

Depart
Today, after breakfast and a morning game drive, you will check out and be transferred back to Johannesburg International Airport. The journey is approximately 4 hours without a stop.
