Masai Mara Fly-in: Private Conservancies (various camps)

This is the ultimate safari get-away for those short on time. We fly you to a private conservancy in the Mara where you have 4 nights to enjoy safari from open sided 4x4 vehicles led by expert guides. Additional nights can easily be added.

Our Mara Fly-In Safari, below, is based at the famous Karen Blixen Tented Camp, which sits on a spectacular meander in the Mara River.

However we have an expansive portfolio of camps and lodges in the Masai Mara conservancies so do ask for your preferred property - we have given some upgrade costs for some of our favourites including Mahali Mzuri and Serian within the pricing section at the bottom of this page. We would be happy to prepare a quotation based on your choice of camp.

What to book now - offers:
Sentinel Camp - stay 4, pay 3 or Stay 5, pay 4 (throughout June, 1-15 December, 16 January – 31 March).
Saruni Mara and Saruni Wild - Mid & high season offer: June, July, August, September, October; 1-19th December - Book 3 nights at Saruni Mara (or Saruni Wild) and get a 4th night free
Mahali Mzuri - 4 nights for 3 before 15 June

Why not extend your stay with a few nights on the beaches of the Indian Ocean? Or combine the Masai Mara with another safari area like Lewa, Ol Pejeta or Samburu? Contact us for ideas and a quotation.

Please note: the Great Migration is usually in the Masai Mara sometime between July and October depending on the rains and the condition of the grass.

The Real World Conservation Trust works with leading conservation organisations to raise awareness as well as raising funds for specific projects. Partners include Save the Elephants, Save the Rhino, The Sheldrick Trust, Rhino Conservation Botswana and Animals saving Animals - many of these being active in Kenya. You can find out more on our Conservation pages. On behalf of every client travelling, Real Africa makes a donation to the Trust. Specifically on this trip you have the chance to visit the elephant nursery of the Sheldrick Trust. As well as fostering a number of orphans over the years we donated $23,000 to DSWT in November 2017 thanks to our Explorers against Extinction campaign. This is enough money to fund more than 11 elephant rescues (based on average cost of a rescue) or to care for 2 orphan elephants for an entire year. We are delighted to be able to contribute to their pioneering conservation work. Also worth a note are the individual camps based in the private conservancies on this fly-in safari - each has a sustainable tourism ethos and is committed to wildlife conservation and community projects. Karen Blixen Camp for example runs a Maasai Cookery School, while Serian helped to initiate (and provide the base for) the Mara Predator Project (Mara Lion and Mara Cheetah Projects) for several years - a project to monitor and protect lion and cheetah populations in the Mara - the team are still involved in this work.

Safari Itinerary

Arrive in Nairobi. You will be met and transferred to the Eka Hotel just 10 minutes from the airport. We find this one works best for those arriving on the BA flight which lands in the evening. You can get some rest ready to your flight to the Mara next day. We have many different hotels in Nairobi including those near the airport, those in the National Park and also some in the leafy suburb of Karen so your choice will depend on when you arrive and what you wish to do with your time.

DAY 2-5

Masai Mara
After breakfast you will be met and transferred to Nairobi Wilson airport for your flight to the Mara. On arrival at the airstrip you will be met by your safari vehicle and driver/guide and can enjoy a first game drive en route to the camp arriving in time for lunch. Twice daily game drives are included on the subsequent days as well as plenty of time to relax or arrange an optional activity such as a game walk or balloon ride. Other camps options in the Mara include Mahali Mzuri, Sentinel, Saruni Mara and Serian, among many others - please do ask. Additional nights can easily be added as you wish.

Return to Nairobi. Visit the Sheldrick Trust.
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. On arrival at Nairobi Wilson Airport our representative will meet you and will transfer you to Hemingways Nairobi, a wonderful hotel in leafy Karen, in time for lunch where you have a day room booked. After lunch relax and freshen-up before you are transferred to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage for a visit at 17h00. During your one hour visit, the baby elephants come in from their play time in the park to the stalls to be fed their milk. The visitors can watch them and visit the elephants and the wardens who are on hand to explain the work of the orphanage and to answer any questions. To date the orphanage has successfully hand-raised over 150 infant elephants and has accomplished its long-term conservation priority by effectively reintegrating orphaned elephants back into the wild herds of Tsavo West and East. After your visit, you will be transferred to Pampa Churrascaria Restaurant for dinner. Following dinner, you will be transferred to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
