This fly-in safari includes a night in Nairobi and then a 4 night stay at Elephant Watch Camp, tailored to focus on elephants and their conservation. Elephant Watch Camp is run by Saba Douglas-Hamilton and her family with Samburu guides trained to recognise the elephants in the reserve. The emphasis is on watching the local elephants, getting up close and learning all about the conservation work done by charity Save The Elephants. This is a truly extraordinary experience for those who want to really learn about this beautiful and intelligent creature in much greater depth than is normally possible on safari.
You can extend this short safari with a safari in the Masai Mara.
Elephant Watch Camp is an eco-camp with close ties to the conservation charity, Save the Elephants founded by Dr Iain Douglas-Hamilton. A stay here gives you a real insight into modern day conservation; you will be able to visit the charity's research centre, close to camp, speak with experts in elephant conservation, learn about the day to day work of the charity and hear about the latest developments in the battle against poachers. Real Africa, via the Real World Conservation Trust, has worked closely with Save the Elephants and Elephant Watch Camp donating more than £17,000 to date. We even sell Tshirts and other merchandise in aid of Save the Elephants at the Real World Store. You can also find out more about other conservation projects on our Conservation Page.
