Under One Sky: Okavango, Chobe and the Falls

Enjoy a diverse game viewing experience with both land and water based activities in Botswana's famous Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. You stay in three different areas to give you a water based safari experience and a land based safari experience. The camps are part of the Under One Sky collection and they are all excellent with large comfortable tents with en-suite bathrooms, plenty of privacy and wonderful views.

The Okavango Delta is unique. It is the largest inland delta in the world, instead of flowing into the sea, the annual flood of fresh water flows inland, spreading over 15 000km² of the Kalahari sand in a maze of lagoons and channels. The countless islands that emerge from its waterways give rise to several diverse ecosystems which in turn, are home to vast numbers of game and a myriad bird. The scale and magnificence of the Okavango Delta helped it secure a position as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and became the 1,000th site to be officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The heart of the delta is accessed by air only and as it is an exclusive destination, it remains relatively unpopulated and wild.

The Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana and covers 10,566 square km, has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. Its uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the region, offers a safari experience of a lifetime.

To end this trip you head to the truly magnificent Victoria Falls one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ where you stay in a lovely safari lodge close to the falls but far away enough to the enjoy peace and quiet and stunning scenery.

In the company of a professional poler with vast experience of the Delta, you will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of this unique habitat and learn about the waterways and wildlife. Fishing is also possible at Pom Pom, and guides will be happy to take you to their secret spots to try for Pike and a variety of Bream species. There is no better way to truly experience the African bush than a guided walk, and this will also offer you the opportunity to learn more about the ecology of the area from professional guides.

DAY 7 - 9

This morning you will fly to Kasane where you will be met by a lodge representative and transferred by road to Muchenje Safari Lodge. Game viewing can also be by boat on the Chobe River, on foot during bush walks, or by night on spot lit drives after dinner. A major feature of Chobe National Park is the elephant population currently estimated at around 120,000. The Chobe elephant are migratory, making seasonal movements of up to 200 km from the Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they disperse in the rains.
