Venture Uganda - Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi

This gorilla tracking break by road takes you to south western Uganda to see the amazing endangered mountain gorillas – a very special experience. Although the initial drive is quite long, there are plenty of interesting stops along the way including the equator. On your return, you will break the journey with an overnight visit to Lake Mburo National Park. You'll have chances to see zebra, various antelope, giraffe, buffalo and hippo among others. There are also a wide variety of birds to look out for. In addition, you will enjoy a boat ride on the lake – watch out for the crocodiles. All-in-all, an action-packed few days.

The Real World Conservation Trust works with leading conservation organisations to raise awareness as well as raising funds for specific projects through our Explorers Against Extinction campaign. You can find out more about our exciting current projects on our Conservation pages including how we raised almost £60k for African Parks and Flora and Fauna International. Previous partners have included Save the Elephants, Save the Rhino, The Sheldrick Trust, Rhino Conservation Botswana and Animals saving Animals. On behalf of every client travelling, Real Africa makes a donation to the Trust. Our aim is to raise awareness about the plight of endangered species and to promote sustainable, socially responsible travel which benefits the wildlife and communities you choose to visit. For example, the money from your gorilla trekking permit goes straight back into the national park and preserving the habitat as well as anti-poaching efforts and education programmes.

On the following day the excitement really ramps up as this is when you get to go Gorilla tracking. At 8am, after a short briefing at the park headquarters with your small group, your ranger will lead you through the tropical rainforest in search of your gorilla family. Join them for an hour, observing their behaviour in their natural habitat. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park - known worldwide, the forest is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. The park provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 346 species of birds, 202 species of butterflies, 163 species of trees, 100 species of ferns, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species.
