I don’t know about you but I am a bit of a technophobe when I am at home. I still use a diary and a kitchen calendar, I don’t own a smartphone or an ipod and I have never really used Facebook much, preferring to use the good old telephone.
However when it comes to social media I have discovered that it is incredibly useful for work and especially for keeping tabs on all our globetrotting members of staff. We have so many new ways of staying in touch with each other and our clients that I thought I would let you know all the different methods of social media that Real Africa use. What with Lily just back from Kenya and Paul recently returned from South Africa it can be hard to keep track of us! In fact both Lily and Paul kept in touch whilst in the midst of the savannah (in Lily’s case) and the midst of the Cape Winelands (in Paul’s case) through daily blogs and twitter feeds and facebook updates. It is great to be able to stay in touch and here in the office we also use Skype to talk face to face to our people in all our different offices in Africa. In my youth when you went travelling abroad you really were off the radar for weeks on end……. but not any more!
The best way for you to get in touch with us directly, especially if you want to discuss a holiday, is to telephone us directly on 0845 299 0264 and talk to one of our very experienced and enthusiastic sales team. You can also email us with a query at enquiries@realafrica.co.uk. Like I say I am still a big fan of the old school methods!
One of the main ways we can update you with our latest news is through our weekly news post on the Real Africa website. This is generally a mix of news from us at Real Africa and news from across Africa. Recently the focus has very much been on the huge surge in poaching for rhino horn across Southern Africa and the new and inventive ways that conservationists are trying to solve the problem with. We also post about up and coming events such as talks at the Royal Geographical Society or lectures from conservation groups. We will also let you know if there is a good television programme coming up on Africa and we often review the programmes so you can catch up on various i-players if you missed them.
As you know as you are currently reading it we also have a blog, Safari Tails, which can be found here on the website at the bottom of our homepage on the Real Africa website. This tends to be more general information with different regular spots featuring our team as they travel, the Karen Blixen Hospitality School Diaries and our Big Five series where we pick our top 5 favourite views, luxury hotels, remote camps etc each week. The discussions in the office when we do these can be quite lively as we all vote for our favourites! We keep it interesting, informative and entertaining we hope!
Next up and full of great photos and funny snippets is our Facebook page. This is the best place to like us or follow us if you are a fan of ours and also to stay in touch directly. We also stick up feedback and comments from previous clients who have just returned from Real Africa holidays on Facebook so it is a great place to find an up-to-date review. All of us at Real Africa are also on Google Plus where you can catch up with us as individuals – you just need to go into plus/google.com and search for our names to find your own sales consultant. If you like to chat but keep it brief then perhaps Twitter is more your cup of tea. You can find us at twitter.com/realafrica where you can see what Paul thought of South African TV or what Lily is having for tea in Kenya tonight…….
One of the most exciting ways of staying in touch with Real Africa is to subscribe to our excellent and popular You Tube video channel. We have loads and loads of great videos of safaris, some stunning african animals in the wild, a good look round the camps and lodges that we use and some really funny moments as well. If you are interested in photos and seeing some of the world’s most beautiful scenery as well as some stunning animal snaps andsome up close on safari shots then I would highly recomment our page on Pinterest. All the photos are either taken by one of us, one of our guides or one of our clients!
