When it comes to beautiful Cape Town, it is no secret that this vibrant area in the Western Cape is a gem in the South African landscape that is adored by so many locally and abroad.
From its abundance of trendy beaches, eateries and recreational areas to vibrant suburbs close by and even attractive locations for international film productions, it is simply one of the best places to be – as a traveller and a resident!
This vibrancy that is a trademark of the city was not dimmed despite the impact of the Coronavirus that South Africa – and the world – is still facing. Although mandatory mask-wearing and other strict safety protocols are still in place, Cape Town is open for business and working hard to ensure that the tourism and hospitality industries stand strong!
From bars and restaurants to hotels, wine farms and outdoor activities, the city is truly reclaiming its past glory with ease.
Certainly one of the reasons why Cape Town’s tourism sector could reopen once more following the darkest days of the pandemic was a strong focus on safety in the Capetonian hospitality sector and officials dedicating themselves to ensuring that key areas in the city adhere to important measures to support a viable industry.
This truly is the beauty of Cape Town: that devotion to creating the best, most wonderful environment for tourists who are passionate about this world-famous area!
This has been evident in the return of large-scale events, such as the Cape Town Cycle Race that returned to the city in March, as well as the SPAR Cape Town Ramadaan and Lifestyle Expo. Also, international superstar Justin Bieber is set to visit the country – with a performance date in Cape Town included – during spring as part of the Justice World Tour.
A boom in festive visitors
Added to these high profile events, Cape Town saw an uptick in visitors – local and abroad – during the past summer festive season – which is proof that confidence in the Mother City has been restored as well. Over and above a rise in visitors, key tourist landmarks such as Table Mountain, Cape Point and Chapman’s Peak saw an increase in visits too.
Also, the cruise sector is expected to see a rise in visitors, which is set to further boosts Capetonian tourism in the next couple of months.
A bright outlook for 2022
With a positive outlook for the tourism sector in the months to come, it is clear that Cape Town is on the right trajectory to keep on attracting visitors and being one of the prime settings to visit in the South African landscape.
Thanks to the city’s commitment to promoting destination-awareness campaigns across key cities across the globe, Cape Town is truly solidifying its status as a city that welcomes its visitors with premium offerings that are part of the Western Cape’s signature.
